Ever since Y2K, when it seemed
like everyone on the planet was
stocking up on
supplies and
expecting the collapse of modern
society, survivalism, or self-reliance
as it is more accurately referred to,
has become more mainstream.
The survivalist movement was
transformed from a bunch of
nutcases to a legitimate
movement
in a short space of time, although
people don’t like to talk
about it
much.
Although there was plenty of hype, and it ended up being a non-event. The idea
of
preparedness is one that has stuck around, and we should all consider. Nobody
is going to look after you when disaster strikes.
No doubt there are plenty of people out there still in denial that it “can’t
happen here.”
